Aegis Sciences Corporation Receives CAP Accreditation
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 9, 2014) – Aegis Sciences Corporation, one of the nation’s leading forensic toxicology and healthcare sciences laboratories, announced accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for its laboratory located at 515 Great Circle Road. This voluntary accreditation program was created with the primary objective of improving the quality of clinical laboratory services. Aegis Sciences Corporation has become part of a prestigious group of more than 7,000 internationally recognized laboratories that have met the highest standards of excellence in quality laboratory practices.
“Receiving CAP accreditation reaffirms our commitment to delivering accurate and reliable testing results to our clients,” said Aegis Founder, Chairman and CEO Dr. David L. Black. “This signifies an opportunity to hold ourselves to the highest standards of laboratory practice, which is an integral component of our organization.”
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, established in 1961, utilizes teams of practicing laboratory professionals as inspectors. Based on a detailed and focused checklist of accreditation standards, inspectors examine the clinical laboratory’s records and quality control procedures, safety program, staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, and overall management and operation of the laboratory. The goal of the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education and standard setting; ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
